The company was heavily supported on the day by over 30 important suppliers and a healthy turnout from both existing and potential new customers.
The President of the Scottish Association of Master Bakers (SAMB), Andre Sarafilovic. was present to cut the ribbon and he extended a very warm welcome to Bako and looked forward to a positive and mutually beneficial relationship with the SAMB and all of its members. Also present was Liz Connolly, Chief Executive of Scottish Enterprise, which has also been supportive to this new venture.
Bako Scotland is a subsidiary of Bako Northern Area, founder members of Bako UK, which was formed over 30 years ago by independent bakers in order to provide collective purchasing strength with key manufacturers and suppliers to the bakery industry.
Its unique position in the marketplace is highlighted by the fact that the company is a non profit making organisation, which means that its margins are the lowest in the industry and the many cost savings generated are passed directly onto its customers.
