Baker to Provide Construction Management and Inspection Services in South Central Pennsylvania.

Michael Baker Jr., Inc., has been selected for a $4 million contract by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) oversees transportation issues in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. The administrator of PennDOT is the Pennsylvania Secretary of Transportation, currently Allen D. Biehler, P.E.  (PennDOT) to provide construction management (CM) support services support services Psychology Non-health care-related ancillary services–eg, transportation, financial aid, support groups, homemaker services, respite services, and other services  and supplementary construction inspection (CI) during the $54 million reconstruction of three major highway and bridge projects south of Harrisburg, Pa., along the U.S. Route 15 corridor. Under its contract, Baker will provide the management and inspection support for a two- to three-year period, which began last month. Baker will service the contract from its established construction management and design office in Harrisburg. The three projects included in the contract are:

-- Rehabilitation of eight miles of Route 15 in York and Adams

Counties. It is a four-lane highway with several crossroad

intersections. Work began in November 1999 and completion is set

for late 2000.

-- Construction of a new interchange on Route 15 in Cumberland

County, near Grantham. Work is scheduled to begin in early spring

2000.

-- Widening and rehabilitation of the Harvey Taylor Bridge along

State Route 3016 in Dauphin Dauphin, town, Canada

This contract is significant because it enables us to continue to provide valued CM support along with CI support in a high-growth area where rebuilding of the highways to improve traffic conditions is paramount."
