The administrator of PennDOT is the Pennsylvania Secretary of Transportation, currently Allen D. Biehler, P.E.  (PennDOT) to maintain and enhance the Commonwealth's bridge software programs and systems. Under this five-year contract, Baker will maintain and enhance several of the state's key bridge software systems which were originally developed by Baker. These design programs are licensed to consultants doing business in the state as well as other government agencies and are designed to maintain uniformity and compliance with the state's bridge specifications and standards. These systems apply to bridges that are commonly built in the state, of which there are over 20,000 at present. The contract also permits Baker to sell or license the software to other bridge designers and agencies which could be customized for their use.
