Baker will be providing final design for the pipeline, civil infrastructure engineering and construction requirements. Baker will complete this work as a member of an engineering/construction alliance established for the project. The 365-million-barrel Alpine oil field is scheduled to begin production in 2000. The field is expected to reach maximum production of 70,000 barrels a day in 2001. ARCO is investing $750 million in the Alpine project. Construction on the field began in early 1998. Baker has been a leader in arctic pipeline development for more than 20 years.
