Its headquarters is located in Airside Business Park, an office park near the Pittsburgh International Airport that the company (AMEX AMEX See: American Stock Exchange :BKR), has been awarded three new contracts totaling $10.7 million to operate and maintain telecommunications systems on United States Air Force United States Air Force (USAF) Major component of the U.S. military organization, with primary responsibility for air warfare, air defense, and military space research. The Bases are: -- Pope AFB in South Carolina -- Holloman AFB in New Mexico -- Shaw AFB in South Carolina These contracts call for Baker to operate and maintain telephone systems on each base including inside and outside plant equipment and facilities. Responsibilities include the installation and movement of telephones and lines. Another task frequently performed is the installation of fiber-optic transmission cables. Fiber-optic lines are used to create Local Area Networks (LAN (Local Area Network) A communications network that serves users within a confined geographical area.
