Baker Selected for Three-Year FEMA Contract.


ALEXANDRIA, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 24, 1999--

) to negotiate a new contract to serve as a Flood Map Production Coordination Contractor.

This three-year contract has a potential value of between $15 million and $100 million according to the original project advertisement. Under the contract, Baker will provide engineering review and revision of flood insurance maps for the National Flood Insurance Program The National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) was created by the Congress of the United States in 1968 through the National Flood Insurance Act of 1968 (P.L. 90-448). , which is administered by FEMA. The new contract also includes computerization of maps and other support services. The project covers FEMA regions VIII (Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, Wyoming, Utah and Colorado), IX (California, Nevada, Arizona and Hawaii) and X (Washington, Idaho, Oregon and Alaska).

Work on the contract will be performed primarily in Baker's Alexandria, Va., office. Baker has been providing engineering and mapping services to FEMA since 1972 under various contracts.
