Baker Appeals Judgement in ADF Litigation.

Michael Baker Corporation (AMEX:BKR) announced today that its subsidiary, Baker Mellon Stuart Construction, Inc. (BMSCI), has filed an appeal to the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals from the previously announced December 28, 2000, judgement of the U.S. District Court in the claim against the company by ADF International, Inc., arising out of the Universal Studios City Walk project.

In filing the appeal, BMSCI indicated its decision followed an in-depth analysis of the matter and recommendation by appellate counsel.

In a related matter, the company continues to pursue its claim against Hellmuth, Obata & Kassabaum, Inc. (HOK), the designer of the City Walk project. The company noted that its position that the design contributed substantially to the problems experienced on the project is consistent with the District Court's findings of fact in the ADF litigation, wherein the Court concluded: "In this case, the evidence established that the contract documents -- particularly the structural plans -- were neither complete nor accurate."
