The NPHQ Achievement Award is given every two years to the roadway project team that has demonstrated outstanding achievement in support of the principles of the highway quality movement.

The I-15 NOW Project brought together the companies of Granite Construction Company and Ralph L. Wadsworth Construction to complete the $238 million project as the joint venture partnership of Weber County Constructors (WCC). Along with Michael Baker, Jr. Inc., and the Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT UDOT Utah Department Of Transportation ), all entities came together as a team in developing a project of function, design, and quality. The project began during the winter of 2006 and concluded during the summer of 2008. It is estimated that 90,000 vehicles passed through this project daily and with its completion, motorists' commute times have decreased dramatically, which equates to a better quality of life and preserves the environment.

"From the beginning, the entire project team was fully committed to the goals of the project. Early in the process, we realized we had something special going and all entities involved used that energy to improve the quality of the finished product. The result was increased safety for the travelling public, high quality, durable design and construction, and a project delivered within budget and ahead of schedule. We are proud to have earned this award," said Jim Deschenes, Baker's project manager.

The I-15 NOW Project has received numerous awards including, National AGC 2008 Marvin M. Black Excellence in Partnering Award; National AGC 2008 Build America Award - Design Build Renovation; ARTBA ARTBA American Road and Transportation Builders Association  2008 Work Zone Safety Awareness Award; UDOT 2008 Best Urban Transportation Project; Utah AGC 2008 Transportation Project of the Year; Intermountain Contractor Best of 2008 Best Alternative Delivery; Intermountain Contractor Best of 2008 Merit Award Transportation Project; and the Roads & Bridges 2007 Top Ten Project Award.
