Bakels launches low GI bread to help bakers cash in on diet trend.


Bakels, one of the UK's leading manufacturers of bakery ingredients has launched Multiseed Bread Concentrate, a low Glycaemic Index (GI) bread product to enable bakers to keep in step with the latest healthy eating trends and help shed the image of bread as a "bad" food in some nutritional circles. By using Bakels low GI Multiseed Bread Concentrate, bakers can quickly and easily produce bread and rolls that will appeal to health conscious customers whilst boosting profit margins with this added value Added value in financial analysis of shares is to be distinguished from value added. Used as a measure of shareholder value, calculated using the formula:

For those bakers whose customers are concerned about their total carbohydrate intake Bakels offers a number of Reduced Carbohydrate Bread Mixes suitable for white and brown bread and rolls. These mixes are some 75 per cent lower in carbohydrates than standard white and brown bread while containing five times more fibre.

Other bread and roll products that form the range of speciality bread concentrates manufactured by Bakels include Mixed Grain Bread Concentrate. This mix produces an alternative to standard brown bread containing crushed wheat, kibbled rye and maize maize: see corn.  producing rolls and bread with a unique appearance, flavour and texture.

Italian Bread Concentrate is made with onion, herbs and spices and is delicious not only for sandwiches with a Mediterranean flavour but also as a pizza base. Country Rye Bread Concentrate produces a mild, coarser type of rye bread and its unsweetened flavour enhances the slightly sour tang typical of rye. All the concentrates in the Speciality range are available in 12.5kg bags.
