Bailus Walker to chair NAS Committee on Toxicology for second term. (People on the Move).


Dr. Bailus Walker, Jr., professor of environmental and occupational medicine at the Howard University Howard University, at Washington, D.C.; coeducational; with federal support. It was founded in 1867 by Gen. Oliver O. Howard of the Freedmen's Bureau, to provide education for newly emancipated slaves. A normal and preparatory department was opened the same year.  Medical Center in Washington, D.C., has been appointed to a second three-year term as chairman of the National Academy of Sciences (NAS (1) See network access server.

 exposures to chemical agents under specific conditions, identifies information gaps, and recommends research that may be of value in the resolution of toxicologic problems facing the sponsors. The Committee on Toxicology is the oldest NAS subdivision, having celebrated its 50th anniversary in 1998.

Dr. Walker has served on a number of NAS commissions and committees, including the Board of Environmental Studies, on which he served a six-year term and for which he chaired the working group on toxicology and environmental risk assessment. He also was a member of the Commission on the Future of Public Health in the United States United States, officially United States of America, republic (2005 est. pop. 295,734,000), 3,539,227 sq mi (9,166,598 sq km), North America. The United States is the world's third largest country in population and the fourth largest country in area. .
