Bailian Oil Depot kicks off.

Construction on Bailian Oil Depot, the core project of the first oil product emergency reserve base in Shanghai, has recently been started in Shanghai Chemical Industry Zone.

The depot will be completed and go on stream in early 2009, and the seasonal supply shortage of oil products in Shanghai and peripheral regions will hopefully be eased at that time.

With a total investment of RMB520 million, the project has 4 functional areas including oil product tank farm, automobile transportation dispatching station and railway loading/unloading station, auxiliary production area and administration area. Eighteen oil tanks with different volumes will be constructed to form an oil product storage capacity of around 200 000 [m.sup.3].

After the completion of Bailian Oil Depot, enterprises located in Shanghai Chemical Industry Zone can enjoy high-quality services provided through integrated transmission facilities. Oil-consuming enterprises in the Yangtze River Delta will also be benefited.
