Baidu Joins Hands with China Telecom Yellow Page.

SHANGHAI Shanghai (shăng`hī`, shäng`hī`), city (1994 est. pop. 12,980,000), in, but independent of, Jiangsu prov., E China, on the Huangpu (Whangpoo) River where it flows into the Chang (Yangtze) estuary. , China, April 12 /Xinhua-PRNewswire/ -- The leading Chinese search engine Baidu ( http://www.baidu.com/ ) and China Telecom Yellow Page ( http://www.yellowpage.com.cn/ ), a subsidiary of China Telecom, jointly announced a strategic partnership today. The purpose of this partnership is to combine Baidu's advanced search technology with China Telecom's ample business listing database to produce a local search product that provides location specific search service demanded by Internet users.

Baidu has seen an increasing trend in location specific queries from its users, and expects to see a continuation of such trend as well as an increase in the use of Baidu's existing PDA and WAP-based mobile search function once Yellow Page's business listings are successfully incorporated in Baidu's search index.
