The officials are on a visit seeking help from Bahrain to come up with solutions to problems faced by the three countries the lake passes through - Tanzania, Uganda and Kenya.

They were in talks with officials from the Municipalities and Agriculture Affairs Ministry, Bahrain's five municipal councils and municipalities to help them prepare studies.

UN Human Settlements Programme office director Ali Majid Shabo said that the representatives from the three countries were here to learn from Bahrain's municipal experience and organisation of municipal work.

"Bahrain has a lot of housing and development projects, in addition to projects directed towards the public," he said.

"We hope that Bahrain would offer us help to study the conditions of people living in the three countries, as officials there are finding difficulties planning infrastructure projects like sewage Sewage

The UN Habitat executive director said that Bahrain is a well-known country in the field of habitats and municipal development, something that is encouraging others to learn from their experience.

Ministry Under-Secretary Dr Juma Al Ka'abi said that Bahrain would offer every support possible to those in need of its services.

"Bahrain is keen on finding solutions to environmental and pollution problems. It has to ensure that the place is safe for citizens and ensure that whatever projects are planned are up to environmental standards," he said.
