Bahrain's first F2 powerboat race starts tomorrow.

 F2 World Championship, Bahrain GP, the first to be held in the kingdom, will be held at the Amwaj Islands Marina on October 15 and 16.

The event is being organized by the Formula World Sports and the Union Internationale Motonautique The Union Internationale Motonautique is the international governing body of powerboating, based in the Principality of Monaco. It was founded in 1922, in Belgium, as the Union Internationale du Yachting Automobile.  (UIM), who support the largest powerboat races in the world and are the international governing body of power boating. ) and is also a member of the General Association of International Sports Federations The General Association of International Sports Federations (GAISF) (french: Association Générale des Fédérations Internationales des Sports (AGFIS)  and the Association of the IOC-Recognised International Sports Federations.

Bahrain's event follows other successful shows in Malaysia, Oman and Fujairah. Egypt will have its turn after Bahrain.

"We are delighted that Formula World Sports has selected Amwaj Islands as the location of choice for the UIM F2 World Championship," said Martin Kay, chief executive officer at Ossis, speaking on behalf of Amwaj Islands.

"The event will be based at the Amwaj Marina, where we held the first Bahrain Boat Show International in April this year."

Amwaj Islands comprise residential developments including homes, studios, apartments, town houses and villas together with a school that is fully functional, a polyclinic polyclinic /poly·clin·ic/ (-klin´ik) a hospital and school where diseases and injuries of all kinds are studied and treated.
