With the addition of Convergin's Accolade platform to the existing Nortel CS 2000 softswitch and the mobile core network, BTC has unified the service infrastructure of its wireless, wireline and broadband networks. Now, when adding new services and network capabilities, BTC can focus its investments in SIP/IMS-based services and apply them across its fixed and mobile networks, achieving real Fixed-Mobile Convergence, and avoid investments in separate solutions for each network.

BTC will use its unified infrastructure to generate additional revenue and target new markets. Among the services that it can offer are advanced SIP-based prepaid voice, and BTC phone number service to expatriates, targeting the large community of Bahamians in the United States. Additionally, BTC will consolidate its service delivery and provide its GSM customers with SIP access, targeting roaming wireless users or enterprises with Wi-Fi infrastructure. BTC will also consolidate its prepaid services for wireless, wireline, and VoIP.

"Convergin's Accolade allows us to respond quickly and efficiently to the demands of the changing market," said Antonio Stubbs, Senior Vice President and Chief Technology Officer of BTC. "By leveraging Convergin's core approach, BTC will be in a position to advance all of our networks simultaneously, converge the service delivery around fewer platforms and newer technologies, and begin to realize some of the benefits of the IMS platforms today."

"The importance of SCIM functionality for the advancement of IMS is becoming increasingly evident, opening the network to new SIP/IMS-based service opportunities while protecting valuable legacy infrastructure," said Dr. Ayal Itzkovitz, CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. "By unifying their service layers, carriers benefit not only from the ability to provide converged service offerings, but also from the ability to focus their future investments on SIP/IMS elements."
