Baggage misery; YourSay.


YOUR Solihull correspondent (Mail, October 30) echoes the complaint letters of so many passengers about the lack of an international status at our airport.

His American arrival flight passengers waited an eternity to reclaim baggage, as so often happens at Birmingham Airport. I have waited 40 minutes at 2am in the morning for my bag after arriving on a Malaga flight, with no other flight arrivals scheduled that night. This appears to be a perennial perennial, any plant that under natural conditions lives for several to many growing seasons, as contrasted to an annual or a biennial. Botanically, the term perennial  problem of poor organisational skills by those in charge.

This embarrassing problem will be exacerbated by the reports of Servicair requesting 200 staff to take a six months sabbatical leave Noun 1. sabbatical leave - a leave usually taken every seventh year
sabbatical

leave, leave of absence - the period of time during which you are absent from work or duty; "a ten day's leave to visit his mother"
, and asking a further 60 baggage and check in staff to take redundancies.
