Badminton: Tournament to be fun for kids.


YOUNGSTERS are all set to have a smashing time taking part in a Teesside badminton badminton (băd`mĭntən), game played by volleying a shuttlecock (called a "bird")—a small, cork hemisphere to which feathers are attached—over a net. Light, gut-strung rackets are used.  tournament.

The competition, organised by Tees Valley The Tees Valley is an area the North East of England. It can be described as "greater Teesside" and consists of the four unitary authorities created by the breakup of the County of Cleveland in 1996: Hartlepool, Middlesbrough, Redcar & Cleveland, and Stockton-On-Tees along with  Badminton will take place on October 11 and 12, 2008.

The tournament is sponsored by Tees Active and Higman Sports and all senior schools and junior badminton clubs are invited to enter.

All young badminton players under 19 from the Tees Valley are welcome to enter.
