Bad weather delays Red Sox-Mariners game

Thursday's game between the Seattle Mariners and the Boston Red Sox was postponed after a wet afternoon and a forecast of rain, sleet and snow.

The game was rescheduled for May 3 at 7:05 p.m. Seattle's May 2 night home game against the Chicago White Sox will be moved to a day game.

Thursday's scheduled starters have been pushed back a day, with Boston's Tim Wakefield (0-1) facing the Los Angeles Angels' John Lackey (2-0), and Seattle's Jarrod Washburn (0-0) facing the Texas Rangers and Kevin Millwood (1-1) on Friday.

The postponement moved Daisuke Matsuzaka's next scheduled start back a day to Tuesday in Toronto. Friday's scheduled starter, Julian Tavarez (0-1), will pitch Boston's Patriots Day game against the Angels on Monday against Joe Saunders (1-0).
