Bad spell in libraries.


CHILDREN in Scotland Scotland, political division of Great Britain (1991 pop. 4,957,000), 30,414 sq mi (78,772 sq km), comprising the northern portion of the island of Great Britain and many surrounding islands.  are borrowing fewer books from libraries than ever.

The number of books lent to youngsters dropped by 200,000 last year, putting the future of some libraries in doubt.
