Bad news.

ROME -- In the lead-up to Vatican negotiations with the suspended Lefebvrist Society of St. Pius X--scheduled for mid-October--the prior of a German SSPX community claimed that for 10 consecutive days this summer he had celebrated a Tridentine Mass in St. Peter's Basilica.

While "there's no problem with celebrating the Old Mass at St. Peter's," a Vatican prelate told The Tablet (U.K.), "you must be a priest in good standing, and the Lefebvrists are not." Apparently the SSPX priest exploited a "lack of vigilance in the basilica's sacristy," where hundreds of priests turn up each day to celebrate Mass at the basilica's many side altars.
