Bad News Abounds: Countrywide Financial Countrywide Financial Corporation (NYSE: CFC) is a diversified financial marketing and service holding company engaged primarily in residential mortgage banking and related businesses.  Corp.'s chief executive, Angelo Mozilo, said the housing market is showing no signs of improving--and even brought up the possibility of it prompting a recession. When asked if the current situation could lead to a long-term economic slowdown, Mozilo responded: "I think so ... I can't believe ... this doesn't have a material effect ... on the psyches of the American people An American people may be:
