That's the point at which their plan failed--badly. Coley entered the house to rob it and came face to face with a pistol-carrying occupant. Coley scrambled out of the house, yelling for Williams. Coley's yelling alerted a deputy in the area. Coley then needed to free the deputy. Meanwhile, Williams drove off without him. To make his escape, Coley carjacked two McDonald's employees by pretending that he had a gun. A witness saw the carjacking The criminal taking of a motor vehicle from its driver by force, violence, or intimidation. The u.s. justice department categorizes the crime of carjacking as a "completed or attempted Robbery of a motor vehicle by a stranger and followed Coley so that he could alert the police to Coley's location. Coley was arrested and positively identified by the homeowner, the two McDonald's employees, and the witness to the carjacking. The police also located Williams and arrested him. |
