Backpacker Names 2006 Editors' Choice Awards Winners for Best New Outdoor Gear and Essentials; This Year's Winners of the Outdoor Industry's Most Coveted Awards Detailed in April Issue of Backpacker, on Newsstands This Week.

The 15 products that made this year's list each stood out for redefining its product category through outstanding design, materials and/or performance. With no set categories for individual awards and no set number of recipients, the products and the testing process drive the award categories.

The Backpacker Editors' Choice Gold Award winners were The North Face Cat's Meow sleeping bag and Tabasco, while the Backpacker Editors' Choice Green Award went to the Patagonia Common Threads Recycling recycling, the process of recovering and reusing waste products—from household use, manufacturing, agriculture, and business—and thereby reducing their burden on the environment.  Program.
