Backing over teacher jobs.


MOVES to encourage people to go into teaching have been welcomed, says a survey.

A poll by Hays Hays, city (1990 pop. 17,767), seat of Ellis co., W central Kans.; inc. 1885. It is a rail, trade, and medical center in a grain, cattle, and oil area. Manufactures include electronic equipment, plastics, feeds, medical supplies, aircraft, and motorcycles.  Education found 80% of people supported the efforts of the Government to get people to join the profession.

But the survey also found doubts about the motives of those seeking to become teachers and concerns that many will leave when the economy picks up.

 Best, managing director of Hays Education, said: "Interest in teaching jobs has increased during the recession. Naturally, people are looking for the added job security, but they are also taking stock and assessing what they want from a career - particularly if they have been made redundant Repetitive. See redundancy.  and feel let down by their previous employer."

The survey also found 59% of teachers were happy with their work-life balance.
