It was a delight for me to read William William, crown prince of Germany

 Lind's essay, "What Would Bismarck Do?" (March 24). Not only does Lind know history well, he also shows an excellent feel for the political realities of the Balkans.  of the emotional importance of Kosovo for the Serbs, Lind proposes an imaginative solution. Give the Kosovars as much independence as possible, but let the Serbs keep their sacred historical places and provide them with some compensation for lost territory. Another Berlin Conference 131 years after the first may bring peace to the Balkans and improve East-West relations. I think success is possible, even without Bismarck.
