BUENOS AIRES -- Bishop Richard Williamson is escorted to a departure gate moments before boarding a plane for London on February 24. Williamson, a leader of the ultra-conservative Society of St. Pius X, had his excommunication lifted by the pope in January. The gesture proved a huge embarrassment to the Vatican after video of Williamson denying certain aspects of the Holocaust surfaced soon after. He was subsequently removed as rector of an Argentine SSPX seminary, then asked to leave the country.
