The electric wave stimulation is a very good treatment for the relief of back pains. This treatment method is known as the TENS treatment in which electric waves are penetrated into the body through the use of special patches attached on top of the skin. The current flows through the patches into the human body with the aim of bring about a relief to the back pain experienced. This can also be called the electric stimulation method where the body is stimulated hence eradicating the pain felt.

If the patient cannot take out time each day for a long course of treatment, relief from back pain may be obtained through some new methods. Several people have this feeling that surgery is suggested to treat back pain too often. In patients with sciatica, whether go for surgery or not, it takes about a year to get relief from pain. Most believe that surgery should be a method of last resort. For such people, some of the new back pain treatments provide relief through non-surgical treatment.

Exercise: Strengthening muscles that support the spine with back and abdominal exercises reduce and eliminate back pain. Stretching exercises which help lengthen shortened muscles and increase mobility of spinal joints are often recommended by physicians. These exercises could vary with age.

An important factor in the chronic low back pain treatment guidelines makes it necessary to state the cause of the back pain in a specific category, e.g. back pain caused by mechanical reasons like vertebra, facet joints, disc, spinous process, nerve root, and traverse process; or scoliosis, a congenital conditions. Other categories include infections, tumors and diseases apart from back pain due to injuries such as sports injuries or whiplash. When the chronic low back pain treatment guidelines were not defined, nearly all the back problems got the same treatment, with about the same outcome.

There are reports from various quarters about the side effects of the treatment, however, there are more reports of the good and effective points of this treatment as compared to the adverse reports of the treatment, which, we may add are directed towards the misuse of the treatment. Another reason for the controversy may be because the treatment is not approved by the FDA. However, the medical fraternity is waiting patiently because the approval may come sooner than expected and with it a lot of patients will be relieved of their lower back pain.
