Bach at Zwolle. Michael Murray, organ. Telarc CD-80385.Bach at Zwolle. Michael Murray, organ. Telarc CD-80385. There are two attractions in this disc. First, there are the selections played -- Preludes BWV BWV Backwater Valve BWV Bachwerkverzeichnis (cataloging prefix for works of composer J.S. Bach) BWV Board Walk Villas (Disney resort) BWV Borderless World Volunteers 532, 534, and 548, Toccata and Fugue Toccata and Fugue may refer to several classical compositions
adj. 1. Strong and muscular. 2. Hardened; calloused. , bracing style by organist Michael Murray. But a second claim on the listener is the disc's reproduction of two distinctly different-sounding organs -- the older and justly famous Great Schnitger organ in St. Michael's, Zwolle, and the organ at St. Nicholas Church, Kampen. The first five selections were recorded at Zwolle and the last three at Kampen. As much as I admire the close, virile virile /vir·ile/ (vir´il) 1. masculine. 2. specifically, having male copulative power. vir·ile adj. 1. sound of the Zwolle organ, it is the Kampen instrument that is reproduced with greater ambience, air, surround, and realism. Organ buffs, take note. |
