Lynn Gillespie, 29, was heading back to the maternity unit when her waters broke near a police station.

Husband Alec, 43, ran in, shouting: "Quick, my wife's giving birth!" Staff helped deliver the girl tot in the car until medics arrived.

Mum of three Lynn, of Doncaster, said: "I don't know how the hospital missed I was in labour."

Each year the hospital treats around 150,000 patients along with 95,500 A&E patients (combined figures for Doncaster Royal Infirmary and Montague Hospital).  is investigating.
