Baby assault: man in court.


A man was due to appear before magistrates today charged with assault on a baby.

The charges were made following a police investigation after the two-week-old baby boy was left fighting for his life.

He was admitted to the University Hospital of Hartlepool on Saturday but later transferred to The James Cook University Hospital The James Cook University Hospital is a 1010 bed major tertiary hospital and district general hospital in Marton, Middlesbrough. It forms part of the South Tees Hospitals NHS Trust, along with the Friarage Hospital in Northallerton.  in Middlesbrough where he was "critical" today.

The man was due to appear before Hartlepool Magistrates' Court.

A 20-year-old woman was also arrested. She has been released on police bail.
