The city hospital is in 11th place among 330 maternity units and hospitals, in a table published in the Dr Foster Good Birth Guide. Every day sees an averaged-out figure of 1.14 births for each maternity bed in the unit, putting Walsgrave well ahead of the national average of 0.76 births per bed. The report says: "Walsgrave is a large and busy maternity unit with shared input from consultants and midwives.
