Baan Appoints Top McKinsey Executive As President And Chief Operating Officer; Tom Tinsley's Appointment Underscores Rapid Growth of Enterprise Software Provider.

MENLO PARK, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 9, 1995--Continuing its market and business momentum, Baan Company, N.V. (NASDAQ: BAANF; ASE: BAAN) today appointed one of the management consulting industry's top executives as President and Chief Operating Officer and as a member of the Board of Directors.

Tom Tinsley, 42, is a director and 18-year veteran at McKinsey & Co. He has served as a consultant in the company's Amsterdam, Scandinavia, and Cleveland offices, and most recently, as manager of McKinsey's offices in Dallas and Houston. Tinsley played a lead role in developing McKinsey's knowledge and strength in helping clients manage information technology issues, and has provided strategic counsel to the chief executive officers of the world's leading information technology providers, as well as major customer organizations.

As President and COO, Tinsley will report to Jan Baan and oversee all facets of the organization including product development, finance and administration, and sales and marketing.

Tinsley joined McKinsey in 1978, and in 1984 was elected a partner while a member of the Amsterdam office. He was elected a senior partner in 1990. Tinsley holds a bachelor of arts degree from Notre Dame University and a master of business administration from Stanford University. The appointment of president and board member is subject to statutory shareholder approval.

Tinsley's appointment underscores Baan's rapid growth in the software applications industry. For example, Baan reported record net revenues of $54.4 million for the quarter ended September 30, 1995 and for the nine months ended September 30, 1995 reported net revenues of $140.7 million, a 74 percent increase over the comparable period in 1994. Additionally, Baan is the first ERP vendor with more than 1,000 sites in production with its open software solution.
