BZW appoints Thomas L. Kalaris to head up its North American securities business.

Mr. Kalaris, 40, joins BZW from JP Morgan, where he had been Managing Director and Head of Investor Client Management for North America. Since joining JP Morgan in 1978, Mr. Kalaris has held key management positions at that firm both in New York and London. His role prior to his most recent position was Global Head of fixed Income Trading, Sales and Research.

At BZW, Mr. Kalaris will be responsible for all securities businesses in North America, including fixed income, foreign exchange, derivatives, commodities and international equities. Her will be a member of the Global Markets Management Committee.

This is the latest in a series of senior appointments initiated by Bob Diamond since he joined BZW in June of this year. Others include Patrick Lin from Lehman Brothers Lehman Brothers Holdings Inc. (NYSE: LEH), founded in 1850, is a diversified, global financial services firm. It is a participant in investment banking, equity and fixed income sales, research and trading, investment management, private equity, and private banking. , as Managing Director and Head of Fixed Income in Japan, Robert Morrice, from CS First Boston First Boston Corporation was a New York-based investment bank, founded in 1932 and acquired by Credit Suisse in 1988, when it became 'CS First Boston'. Globally referred to as Credit Suisse First Boston after 1996, the First Boston part of the name was phased out in 2006. , as Managing Director and Head of Credit Business in Europe and Abigail Hofman, formerly of Deutsche Morgan Grenfell, as Managing Director and Global Head of Debt Origination.

Mr. Diamond joined BZW in June 1996, and was formerly Vice Chairman and Global Head of Fixed Income and Foreign Exchange at CS First Boston in New York. He is a member of the BZW Management Committee.

Callum McCarthy - Chief Executive Officer for the Barclays Group, North America. Mr. McCarthy was appointed in February 1996, having previously been Chief Executive Japan since January 1993. He is a member of the BZW Management Committee, which has overall responsibilities for the Group's activities in North America and Japan.
