BIRMINGHAM City should look no further than Lee Naylor to fill their left-back slot going into the new season.

Blues boss Alex McLeish has given a trial to former Liverpool and Portsmouth defender Gregory Vignal in a bid to plug the problem position.

But, depending on how Vignal performs, a swoop for Naylor would appear to make perfect sense for the Celtic player and the St Andrew's club, as the former Wolves full-back is known to be available following the arrival of ex-Walsall and Coventry favourite Danny Fox in Glasgow.

And with right-back Stuart Parnaby the only senior Blues defender able to provide competent cover at left-back, McLeish needs a proven performer urgently and is well aware of Naylor's ability from his time in the SPL.

AVAILABLE: Lee Naylor Naylor was an ever-present for Wolves during their one season in the Premier League six years ago and since then he has had the experience of Champions League football with the Hoops.

Pompey are reported to be interested in bringing the 29-year-old back down south, but the Bloxwich-born defender is believed to favour a return to his native West Midlands. Over to you, Eck.
