 was hospitalized Monday night after complaining of chest pains.

Butler could be released as soon as today, JetHawks spokesman Jeff Lasky said.

Butler's 17-year major league career with five teams included two stints with the Dodgers in the 1990s. He became one of baseball's most inspirational figures while with Los Angeles in 1996, when he returned to the team within five months after being diagnosed with throat cancer, for which he underwent successful surgery that rid him of the disease.

He was diagnosed with prostate cancer prostate cancer, cancer originating in the prostate gland. Prostate cancer is the leading malignancy in men in the United States and is second only to lung cancer as a cause of cancer death in men.  three years ago, and is in remission after undergoing radiation implant seed treatment.
