In terms of presentation, Ghostbusters: The Video Game is one of the most faithful film-to-game adaptations there's ever been. Each iconic item, from the nuclear beam-shooting proton packs to the hearse-cum-ghost hunting mobile Ecto-1 has been lovingly recreated. Most remarkable, though, is the fact that, apart from Rick Moranis and Sigourney Weaver, the entire Ghostbusters cast has returned to reprise their original roles from the movies. With a script by Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis, and with Bill Murray back at his ad-libbing, wisecracking best, this could, to all intents and purposes Adv. 1. to all intents and purposes - in every practical sense; "to all intents and purposes the case is closed"; "the rest are for all practical purposes useless" for all intents and purposes, for all practical purposes , be considered a third Ghostbusters movie. All this effort would be without merit, however, if the core gameplay failed to deliver. Played from an over-the shoulder perspective, weakening, lassoing, wrestling with and capturing each ghost is like a gleeful glee·ful adj. A robust physics system also ensures that every spectral encounter is a destructive blast, with nigh on all elements of each environment fully combustible. It may eventually become repetitive over the course of the 10-hour campaign, but with such a high quality story you'll hardly notice. It requires great confidence to take on the weight of such a well-loved franchise and run with it. However, developers Terminal Reality show they "ain't afraid of no ghost", successfully walking the tightrope between nostalgia and pure excitement.
