Chas H. Sells Inc. has hired Stephen J. Morse of Ashland as a geographic information systems manager in the company's Charlton office. Mr. Morse is a GIS manager/analyst with more than 17 years' experience in data research and analysis, data development and manipulation, and cartographic display. He received a bachelor's degree from Salem State College and a master's degree from the University of Connecticut. Sells, with offices throughout the East Coast, is part of the WSP Group, a global design, engineering and management consultancy.

Mark S. Azia has joined Southbridge Savings Bank as vice president - commercial loan officer at the bank's West Boylston Street, Worcester, location. He brings more than 35 years of commercial lending experience to the position. Mr. Azia, who lives in Framingham, received a bachelor's degree from the University of Connecticut and a master's in business administration from Babson College.

Robert A. Pontbriand of Fitchburg has been named director of economic development and government affairs by the North Central Massachusetts Development Corp. He most recently was chief of staff for former Fitchburg Mayor Dan H. Mylott and is an adjunct instructor in the political science department at Fitchburg State College. Mr. Pontbriand received a bachelor's degree from the University of Vermont and a master's degree from Harvard University.

Sharon M. DiGirolamo has been named residential sales manager for Milford Federal Savings & Loan Association. Ms. DiGirolamo brings extensive experience in the residential sales industry and many years of sales management experience in the temporary staffing market. She lives in Milford.

The L.S. Starrett Co. of Athol announces the appointment of Hardy Hamann of Elgin, Ill. to the position of vice president - marketing and business development. He most recently served as senior vice president - strategy, organizational and product development at WMH Tool Group in Elgin, Ill. He previously served as senior vice president of Hermes Abrasives in Virginia Beach, Va. He will be based in Athol.

Edward J. Connor Jr. has been named senior vice president, investment and trust officer for Fitchburg Savings Bank. He previously was executive vice president for Flagship Bank & Trust Co. Mr. Connor, who lives in Holden, received a bachelor's degree from Assumption College.
