California HealthCare Foundation in Woodland Hills, the philanthropic arm of Blue Cross of California, named Mark Douglas Smith president and chief executive. Smith formerly was executive vice president of the Henry J. In this newly created position for the Chatsworth-based institution, Walsh will oversee the performance of the Great Western loan portfolio, and report to vice chairman and chief financial officer Carl Geuther. Walsh has been in commercial banking for 21 years.

Lisa Cristiano and Bruce Reiner have joined Universal City-based MCA Records as part of its expanding promotion team. Cristiano is the new vice president of alternative promotion and will be responsible for coordinating all promotional efforts for alternative music artists on MCA Records and its associated labels. Reiner, as vice president of crossover promotions, will be responsible for coordinating the national promotion campaigns for all MCA Records urban, dance and Latino artists.

Mark T. Hodgdon has been appointed general manager of the Ritz-Carlton, Huntington Hotel of Pasadena. Hodgdon has 18 years in the hospitality industry, and is a graduate of the University of Massachusetts The system includes UMass Amherst, UMass Boston, UMass Dartmouth (affiliated with Cape Cod Community College), UMass Lowell, and the UMass Medical School.
