VALENCIA - The Santa Clarita Valley The Santa Clarita Valley is the valley of the Santa Clara River in Southern California. It stretches through Los Angeles County and Ventura County. Its main population center is the city of Santa Clarita. The valley was part of the 48,612-acre (19,672.  School and Business Alliance is bringing back its Beyond Classroom Walls program that brings business people and educators together.

The conference will be held Aug. 8 at the Hyatt Valencia. The discussion will focus on preparing students for college, careers and beyond.

More than 200 people attended last year's conference.

The conference is sponsored by Santa Clarita Santa Clarita, city (1990 pop. 110,642), Los Angeles co., S Calif., suburb 30 mi (48 km) NW of downtown Los Angeles, on the Santa Clara River; inc. 1987. Situated in the Santa Clara valley and nearby canyons, Santa Clarita includes the former towns of Canyon Country,  city government, the Santa Clarita Valley Chamber of Commerce and the Valencia Industrial Association, along with local businesses.

The forum will build on the alliance's ongoing efforts to integrate school-to-career programs in Santa Clarita Valley schools.

New construction rules start Nov. 1

SANTA CLARITA - Effective Nov. 1, the Building and Safety Division of the city Planning city planning, process of planning for the improvement of urban centers in order to provide healthy and safe living conditions, efficient transport and communication, adequate public facilities, and aesthetic surroundings.  and Building Services Department will begin enforcement of the new state building codes for all construction projects.

The provisions of the new state codes will apply to construction projects, both residential and nonresidential, for which a permit application is submitted to the city's Building and Safety Division on or after Nov. 1. Provisions of state codes now in effect will apply to projects for which a complete application is submitted prior to Nov. 1.

City officials recommend that those now considering or designing a proposed project adhere to adhere to
verb 1. follow, keep, maintain, respect, observe, be true, fulfil, obey, heed, keep to, abide by, be loyal, mind, be constant, be faithful

2.
 provisions of the new codes if the permit application will be submitted to the city on or after Nov. 1.

The new regulations will apply to all aspects of new construction, including plumbing, mechanical and electrical systems in buildings. The new state codes are based on the 1997 Uniform Building Code, 2000 Uniform Plumbing Code, 2000 Uniform Mechanical Code and 1999 National Electrical Code The National Electrical Code (NEC), or NFPA 70, is a U.S. standard for the safe installation of electrical wiring and equipment. It is part of the National Fire Codes series published by the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA). .

These model codes have been amended in California to reflect the most current regulations adopted by the various state agencies having jurisdiction over construction. These may be further modified by city officials before Nov. 1 to reflect safety considerations associated with local topography topography (təpŏg`rəfē), description or representation of the features and configuration of land surfaces. Topographic maps use symbols and coloring, with particular attention given to the shape and elevations of terrain. , climate or geology, as well as provisions pertaining per·tain
