(NASDAQ: JAVA[3]) is an American vendor of computers, computer components, computer software, and information-technology services, founded on 24 February 1982. Inc. took a bitter public dispute with Microsoft Corp. to court on Tuesday, claiming its arch-rival distorted a popular Sun programming language so that it works only on Windows computers and not rivals' machines. SAFRA SELLS 1,000-YEAR BONDS: Edmond Safra Edmond Jacob Safra (Arabic: ادموند يعقوب صفرا , the Lebanese patriarch of the global banking family, put his stamp on the bond market by selling 1,000-year bonds - the first such offering by a company this century. Luxembourg-based Safra Republic Holdings SA sold $250 million of bonds, taking advantage of the lowest U.S. bond yields in 19 months and investor optimism that the rally will continue. Lehman Brothers Lehman Brothers Holdings Inc. (NYSE: LEH), founded in 1850, is a diversified, global financial services firm. It is a participant in investment banking, equity and fixed income sales, research and trading, investment management, private equity, and private banking. The Bentonville, Ark.-based company said the openings will include 120 to 125 supercenters, 50 discount stores and about 10 Sam's Clubs stores. The retailer has 2,771 stores. The world's largest retailer said about 90 of the supercenters would be expansions or relocations of its discount stores.
