In an optimistic sign toward ending the five-month commercial actors strike, both sides said Friday they would bring their full negotiating teams to the table when talks resume next week.

Friday marked the third straight day of preliminary negotiation in the dispute between commercial actors and the advertising industry over residuals and Internet ads.

Unova shares hit by big stock drop

Shares of Woodland Hills-based Unova Inc. plunged Friday, one day after the company issued an earnings warning. The manufacturing company's stock closed at $4.9375 on Friday, down $2.3125. Unova said Thursday it expects significant losses for the remainder of 2000.

The company, through its Intermec subsidiary, is a global supplier of mobile information technology and wireless networks. Its Industrial Automation Systems segments are among the world's leading manufacturing technology suppliers to the automotive, diesel engine and aerospace industries.

Used-tire dealers profit from recall

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The Tennessee attorney general's office is investigating reports that some used-tire dealers are selling recalled Firestone tires - tires that are then being traded in for free, new replacements under Bridgestone/Firestone's recall program.
