BUSINESS NOTES REWARD OFFERED FOR BIDBAY HACKER.


TUJUNGA - Online auctioneer BidBay.com said it has resumed operations after a hacker jammed its site.

Chief Executive Officer George Tannous reiterated the $25,000 reward he is offering for information leading to the arrest of the attacker. He also said losses could run into the millions of dollars counting lost potential business after the attack that began at 2 a.m. Thursday. The hacker turned the company's own servers against themselves, forcing them to spew out Verb 1. spew out - eject or send out in large quantities, also metaphorical; "the volcano spews out molten rocks every day"; "The editors of the paper spew out hostile articles about the Presidential candidate"

 meaningless messages and preventing Internet users from visiting the site.

Technicians shut down BidBay's computer system then reinstalled and formatted its software over the weekend. Though the attack was routed through servers in Bulgaria and Austria, Tannous and other officials believe the attack originated in California.

Roman sets deal with C-3D TV

 - Phil Roman Entertainment Inc. entered into a three-year, nonexclusive strategic alliance with the C-3D Television Network, the companies said Monday.

The alliance calls for both companies jointly to seek, develop, produce, promote, market and distribute animation and live-action programming for the C-3D Television Network and the 3D.COM Virtual Reality Portal Web site.

Animation producer and PRE President Phil Roman was named last week to C-3D's advisory board.

SAN FRANCISCO - In a $1.4 billion windfall for the world's second richest man, Oracle CEO Larry Ellison agreed to forgo his salary and cash bonuses through May 2003 for more stock options in his high-flying software company.

Ellison, who ranks behind only Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates in wealth, will get 20 million stock options during a four-year period in exchange for giving up an average salary and bonus of $2.7 million. Under normal circumstances, Ellison would have received about 13.6 million shares in four-year period, Oracle disclosed Monday.
