BUSINESS NOTES MEDTRONIC PUTS WRAPS ON 2 DEALS.

NORTHRIDGE - Medtronic Inc. said Tuesday that it has completed its $3.8 billion acquisitions of MiniMed Inc. and Medical Research Group Inc., putting the Fridley, Minn.-based company into the lucrative market for diabetes treatment.

The acquisitions include a cash purchase price of $48 per share for approximately 64.9 million MiniMed shares and about $400 million in cash for MRG MRG Merge

The acquisitions were first announced May 30.

A company statement said management's ``inability to attract a large enough number of advertisers, coupled with a tight capital market, resulted in Save.com's closure.''

BERLIN - Germany's Bayer AG said Tuesday that it could decide the future of its drug business as soon as next month, as its shares rallied on hopes a rival might pay $20 billion for the division hurt by the recall of an anti-cholesterol drug.

Shares of Bayer, Germany's biggest drugmaker and the inventor of aspirin, rose as much as 5.3 percent in early Frankfurt trading on media reports that Roche Holding AG had made the preliminary bid.
