BUSINESS NOTES BIOSOURCE REVEALS STOCK CONVERSION.


CAMARILLO - BioSource International Inc. on Friday announced the automatic conversion of its series B preferred stock owned by Genstar Capital LLC (Logical Link Control) See "LANs" under data link protocol.

PALO ALTO - Carly Fiorina, president and chief executive of Hewlett- Packard Co., has been named to the additional post as chairwoman, becoming the first woman to hold all three top posts at a major computer company.

Fiorina's new post, announced Friday, marks a nod of approval for the work she's done since July 1999 when she took the helm of the Palo Alto-based company, the world's third-largest computer maker.

Flight delays up at summer's end

WASHINGTON - Airline delays increased again in August, after tapering off a bit earlier this summer, the Federal Aviation Administration Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), component of the U.S. Department of Transportation that sets standards for the air-worthiness of all civilian aircraft, inspects and licenses them, and regulates civilian and military air traffic through its air traffic control  said Friday.

The agency reported 47,893 delayed flights for the month, up from 44,430 in July but below the record 50,114 recorded in June.

The August total was also well above the 37,189 delayed flights in August a year earlier.

Verizon asks pass for long-distance

WASHINGTON - Verizon Communications, which last year became the first Bell company to offer long-distance to its local customers in New York, now is seeking federal permission to do the same in Massachusetts.
