The Oaks shopping center has received two awards for its Shopping Advantage data base program. The Hahn Co., which manages The Oaks, presented a Fame Award to Marketing Director Diane Brandes. She also received an Achievement in Marketing Excellence award.

DEALS

Kodiak Communications Inc. has won an exclusive contract to handle public relations for Sprayed Textures Consumer Products, makers of Pete's Ceiling Wizard, a ceiling cleaning compound. Kodiak is a full-service marketing and advertising agency with headquarters in Moorpark.

Whittaker Corp. has completed the acquisition of Massachusetts-based Xyplex Inc. from Raytheon Co. for $117.5 million in cash and stock. The new company, Whittaker Xyplex, becomes one of the world's top providers of networking products. Simi Valley-based Whittaker provides products and services with a high technology or engineering component to the aerospace and communications markets.

EARNINGS

California Amplifier Inc. reported a fourth-quarter sales increase of 58 percent from $11.5 million to $18.1 million and a year-end sales gain of 35 percent, going from $45.7 million to $61.6 million. Net income for the year more than doubled, increasing from $2.5 million (22 cents a share) to $4.96 million (41 cents). All per share amounts have been adjusted to reflect a two-for-one stock split on Feb. 16. Camarillo-based California Amplifier designs, manufactures and markets a broad line of amplifiers, down-converters, antennae and integrated products for the reception of microwave signals.

BioSource International Inc. reported first-quarter revenue of $2.5 million and net income of $519,748 (9 cents per share), compared with revenue of $1.9 million and net income of $115,194 (2 cents) the previous year. BioSource is a Camarillo-based supplier of immunological reagents and test kits used in biomedical research.

Lindsay Nielson, a Ventura County attorney and arbitrator, has opened Real Estate Arbitration & Mediation Services in Ventura.

Little Thai Restaurant is opening April 23 at 1620 Daily Drive in Camarillo.

Brown, Leifer, Slatkin & Berns, a certified public accounting and business consulting firm in Studio City, has opened an office in Ventura County. The new office is at 300 Esplanade Drive, Suite 2090, Oxnard.

REAL ESTATE

Lansco Properties Inc. has purchased a 100,000 square-foot facility at 2230 Statham St. in Oxnard, and is leasing 60,000 square feet of the property to K.B. Fowler Trucking. Lansco also acquired 7.14 acres of land with the purchase. CB Commercial and Grubb & Ellis handled the deal.

Wood-Claeyssens Foundation has given a $5,000 grant to Food Share in Oxnard to help pay for the cost of adding a 50,000 cubic-foot refrigerator-freezer unit in the food bank's new warehouse.

FINANCES

DDL Electronics has restructured its retirement obligations offering participants a total of 600,000 stock purchase warrants. DDL is a Newbury Park company that provides customized, integrated electronic manufacturing services to original equipment manufacturers.

WORKSHOPS

John C. Clay a Thousand Oaks investment representative for Edward Jones, is offering a six-week financial workshop for individual investors.
