Commission unanimously approved the ABCO/Associated Investments project on the northwest corner of Pico Canyon Road and The Old Road. There was no opposition. All 14 oaks on the 4-1/2-acre site will be preserved, and 36 more planted, under the conditions set by planners, said Aaron Clark Aaron Clark (October 16 1787 – August 2 1861[1]) was an American politician who became the second popularly elected Mayor of New York, serving two one-year terms from 1837 to 1839. , a regional planning assistant. The horseshoe oak will be incorporated into the restaurant design to ensure its preservation, said ABCO ABCO Angelo Brothers Company representative Rad Sutnar. The saplings are to replace some of the 200 mature oaks ABCO has removed in building on neighboring neigh·bor n. 1. One who lives near or next to another. 2. The county, however, refused ABCO's request for a 60-foot pole sign visible from the freeway, allowing instead one 42-feet high, Clark said. The Extended Stay will join Fairfield Inn, Comfort Suites, Hampton Inn and Residence Inn just off the I-5. ``What you have are different kinds of markets in that region - people in town visiting people, people who are going to Magic Mountain,'' Sutnar said. ``Then we have a market where people working in industry who have an office here or maybe they get transferred for a few weeks, a month, and they need a place to stay that's more than just a hotel.'' The rooms, expected to be open late next year, will have small kitchens and dining areas. ``Kind of a home away from home,'' Sutnar said. ABCO had planned a seven-story office building, too, but found the market soft, Sutnar said. ``What's happening in the area is the dual warehouse - they are converting and using them for offices because they're less expensive,'' he said. Also planned early on was a full-service Holiday Inn, but Sutnar said that again there was no market demand.
