BUSINESS GROUP COMMENTS ON THE COMPLETION OF NAFTA NEGOTIATIONS
WASHINGTON, Aug. 12 /PRNewswire/ -- Commenting on the successful conclusion of negotiations to establish a North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), Barry Rogstad, president of the American Business Conference, said:
"News of a NAFTA deal could not come at a better time.
Recent history has demonstrated that export expansion is
vital for America's domestic growth and job creation. A
NAFTA will build upon our past exporting success. The
president and his trade representative, Carla Hills, should
be congratulated for their tenacity in pursuing these
negotiations over nearly two years. This agreement is a
real feather in President Bush's sombrero."
"The NAFTA is especially important for smaller,
entrepreneurial firms. NAFTA's predecessor, the U.S.-
Canada Free Trade Agreement, encouraged such firms to
venture into exporting. With the addition of Mexico to the
free trade zone, these companies will soon find two nearby
 nations ready to do business."
Founded in 1981, the American Business Conference is the only business organization that focuses its attention solely on midsized, high-growth companies -- the companies that create jobs and raise America's standard of living. ABC members -- a select group of CEO- entrepreneurs with outstanding track records of success -- represent American business at its best.
