Donations

The Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde's Spirit Mountain Community Fund has given $50,000 to support the Volunteers in Medicine Clinic's mental health services program. Eugene-based Volunteers in Medicine offers free primary medical care and prescription assistance to low-income, uninsured residents of Lane County.

The PacifiCare Foundation, a nonprofit organization established by PacifiCare Health Systems Inc., gave $10,000 to support the Volunteers in Medicine Clinic's diabetes management and mental health programs.

The Eugene Active 20-30 Club has given $7,422 to Court Appointed Special Advocates of Lane County and Birth to Three.

Wells Fargo and Weyerhaeuser Co. are providing $10,000 in grants to the University of Oregon's freshman seminar in American philanthropy class. The students will evaluate applications from local nonprofits, make site visits and then award the funds to one or more local organizations.

Wells Fargo donated $52,665 to schools and nonprofit organizations in Eugene in 2005. The financial services company gave money to 17 local groups, including the Eugene School District, Bethel School District, Adelante Si Hispanic Organization of Lane County, Pearl Buck Center and Willamette Family Treatment Services.

Starters, the Mercedes-Benz dealership's used car lot at 11th Avenue and Garfield Street, gave $2,500 to the Bethel School District, which will be used to improve school libraries, and $2,500 to the Eugene School District to support music education.

Murdock Charitable Trust and Meyer Memorial Trust have made grants to Mainstream Housing Inc., a Eugene-based nonprofit that provides housing to people with developmental disabilities. Murdock Charitable Trust gave $129,000, and Meyer Memorial Trust gave $100,000. The money will be used to renovate Aquarius apartments, which houses 26 families in Springfield.

The Wentworth Foundation, affiliated with Wentworth Buick-Pontiac-GMC, has given $500 for general operating expenses to KindTree Productions Inc., a Eugene-based nonprofit that provides services to people with autism.

Services

Umpqua Bank employees in Lane County donated 2,541.45 hours, worth an estimated $44,603 to local schools and other organizations, such as Relief Nursery, Girl Scouts, Start Making a Reader Today and CASA.
