HIV Alliance has been awarded an $8,000 grant from Trust Management Services LLC to support the rapid HIV testing project and a $7,000 grant from the Kent Richard Hofmann Foundation to buy food cards to help provide for clients' nutrition.

Lane Metro Partnership has contributed $10,000 to the Siuslaw Fisherman's Association to help pay for repairs to its ice machine. The funds came from a grant provided by The Old Growth funds, administered by the state Economic and Community Development Department. The association matched the grant with $20,000.

TheBathFactory.com, a Eugene-based online retailer specializing in bath and body products for children and adults, has donated $3,000 worth of toys to the Relief Nursery to help local families in need.

Pearl Buck Center Inc. has received the following grants: Spirit Mountain Community Fund has contributed $35,000 and The Collins Foundation has contributed $25,000 to Pearl Buck Center for its vehicle replacement project. Families With Special Needs received $20,000 from the JFR Foundation; $10,000 from McKay Family Foundation; $10,000 from The Herbert A. Templeton Foundation. The Food Program received $8,000 from Trust Management Services. The Transportation Program received $3,500 from Faye and Lucille Stewart Foundation. The Preschool Scholarship Program received $2,000 from the San Francisco Foundation.

Country Coach Inc. employees in Junction City contributed $20,559 in cash and 5,187 pounds of food to benefit Junction City Local Aid. The cash and food donations will allow for the distribution of 128,540 pounds of food.

The Weyerhaeuser Company Foundation has awarded $92,400 in grants to 18 nonprofit groups and schools in Lane County, including: $25,000 to SOLV for its annual Down by the Riverside volunteer clean-up event; $11,350 to McKenzie Fire and Rescue for new automated external defibrillators; $6,000 to Northwest Youth Corps for replacing passenger vans with buses to improve safety; $5,000 to CASA of Lane County for volunteer recruitment and training; $5,000 to Creswell Public Library Foundation for the library relocation project; $5,000 to Emerald Kidsports Foundation for support to the volleyball program; $5,000 to Lane Community College Foundation for five $1,000 scholarships for students with financial need and a minimum 3.0 GPA; $5,000 to Pleasant Hill School District for the school's forestry program; $5,000 to Willamette Repertory Theater for Theatre Alive! education program; $4,550 to Junior Achievement of Western Oregon for classroom programs; $6,000 to Willamette Leadership Academy for improvements to a confidence obstacle course and equipment; $3,000 to Boys and Girls Clubs of Emerald Valley for the after-school education program; $1,500 to Willamette High School for the Link Crew summer training camp; $1,000 to Lowell School District in recognition of Weyerhaeuser employees who volunteered at the Dexter Lake fish habitat project; $1,000 to Briggs Middle School in recognition of Weyerhaeuser employees who volunteered at a park cleanup project; $1,000 to Oregon Children's Foundation in recognition of Weyerhaeuser employees who volunteered in the SMART readers program; $1,000 to Springfield Education Foundation in recognition of Weyerhaeuser employees who volunteered at Safety Town; and $1,000 to Thurston High School in recognition of Weyerhaeuser employees who volunteered for a school grounds cleanup project.

Pacific Continental Bank made the following gifts in the last quarter of 2005: $1,500 to Fifth Street Market's Night of 1,000 Stars; $3,000 to Habitat for Humanity; and $5,000 to the Lane Community College Foundation..

The American Red Cross, Oregon Pacific chapter, has received the following donations from businesses and foundations: Crane Creek Family Fund of the Oregon Community Foundation, $5,000 for general support; the R.W. Family Fund of the Oregon Community Foundation, $5,000 for the National Disaster Hurricane Relief Fund/Hurricane Relief and $1,000 for general support; Lilja Family Fund of the Oregon Community Foundation, $5,000 for disaster relief in South Douglas County.

Womenspace has received a $1,000 donation from U.S. Bank in Eugene on behalf of an employee, Joan Loomis, who received a U.S. Bank Five Star Volunteer Award for exceptional volunteer service. Loomis has served on the Womenspace board of directors since 2003, and is a member of the finance and fund-raising committees. Womenspace's mission is to end domestic violence by empowering women and children, and by changing community standards.

Girl Scouts of Western Rivers Council has received the following grants: $14,750 from the Emil W. and Lois E. Brammert Fund of the Oregon Community Foundation; and $250 from the Tate Family Fund of the Oregon Community Foundation. Both gifts will be used to construct a ramp for accessibility to the program area in the lower level of the building.

Mainstream Housing Inc., a nonprofit provider of affordable housing in Eugene, has received the following grants: $2,500 from KeyBank; $3,500 from U.S. Bank; $3,500 from Washington Mutual; and $2,500 from Wells Fargo. The gifts will support the agency's resident service program and development activities.

FOOD for Lane County received the following donations: Arlie & Co. purchased 3,000 pounds of red beans and 1,750 pounds of elbow macaroni, valued at $2,000, from McDonald Wholesale, and Arlie employees repackaged the dry goods into 8,000 bags of food, which was packaged with a vegetable broth for making soup. Lane County commissioners and Safeway each contributed $2,500 for the purchase of 560 turkeys, which were distributed in emergency food boxes to families in need over the holiday season. Each commissioner donated $500 from their discretionary funds, and Safeway matched the gift. It's the sixth year that commissioners and Safeway have made such a donation.
