Gayle Sawyer has been hired as a planning assistant with the wealth management and financial consulting team at Caprai Mahalak Financial Group in Eugene.

Best Tel LLC in Eugene has hired Robert McLaren as customer advocate. McLaren was previously a field engineer with Alcatel/Lucent and has more than nine years of experience in the tele-communications industry.

Chris Pryor has been named executive director of the Oregon Pacific Chapter of the American Red Cross in Eugene. Hepreviously was public affairs manager for Willamalane Park and Recreation District for 20 years.

Jennifer Kuglin has been hired by KVAL-TV (CBS) in Eugene as news director. Kuglin previouslywas an executive producer at Northwest Cable News, a 24/7 regional cable news channel based in Seattle.

Kuglin has been in the television news business for nine years.

Patricia Chapman has returned to the law firm of Gleaves Swearingen Potter & Scott LLP in Eugene. Chapman's practice encompasses a range of business and commercial law transactions, including business formation and ongoing business advice.

Rick Marquess has joined Pacific Benefit Consultants, Inc. as a shareholder. Marquess has 23 years of experience in the insurance industry and specializes in group benefits.

Tiffanie Soper has been named chief financial officer of Cascade Sierra Solutions in Coburg. Soper has 10 years of experience in the accounting industry specializing in audits of nonprofits, governmental organizations and employee benefit programs and serving as accounting manager of a local development company.

The Lane Metro Partnership has elected the following officers for the 2008 operating board: president, Art Clark, a partner with Hershner Hunter LLP, to replace outgoing president, Bridget Baker, The Register--Guard; vice-president, John Brown, a real estate broker with Evans, Elder and Brown Inc.; and secretary/treasurer, Gordon Brown, director of operations for Molecular Probes.

Stephanie Matthew, human resources manager for Three Rivers Casino, was elected as a member of the board of directors.
